Robert Gannon and Phil Horwell of Wagga Wagga Train Museum were not expecting me to visit today.

So it was a bit of a surprise when I turned up to present the first of my community excellence awards.

The Local Legends initiative is my way of honouring community crusaders like Robert and Phil.

These blokes have a combined 100 years of service to rail heritage and have worked hard to keep a fascinating part of the city's history chugging along.

It was a privilege to meet and to present certificates of appreciation them today.
