Inland Rail

I continue to advocate on behalf of community members concerned over the impacts of the Inland Rail Project.

Work on the Albury to Illabo section of the Inland Rail project, will involve upgrading the existing rail line to bring double-stacked freight trains through the centre of the city.

I support the Inland Rail project and the economic benefits it will bring to the region, however we must ensure the project doesn’t negatively impact locals through traffic disruptions, by limiting access to key health facilities and emergency services, and the creation of excess noise and vibration.

I will work closely with community representatives to monitor the compliance of the Inland Rail Project with the planning approval conditions and to monitor the impact on the community, in particular in terms of traffic, access to critical services (e.g. hospital), noise, pollution, replacement of current crossings, disability access to crossings, safety of crossings, other opportunities for community improvement, and assessing the need for a future bypass.
