Welcoming Rotary’s End Polio Now riders in Wagga Wagga

It was an absolute privilege to stand beside Wagga Wagga Mayor Greg Conkey, as we welcomed cyclists taking part in Rotary’s End Polio Now campaign to the city.

We are so very fortunate that here in Australia we have had vaccines since the 1950’s, and with just 27 recorded cases of polio during 2018, we are so close to having the disease eradicated globally.

I was proud to chat with those taking part in this fantastic initiative today, well done Rotary!

Over the weekend, the iron lung pictured will be on show at the Wagga Wagga Marketplace to raise awareness of the initiative; a sombre reminder of the impact felt by polio sufferers during the 1950s.
