It was great to meet with Simon Judkins - Australasian College for Emergency Medicine president - and well- known local emergency specialist, associate professor Shane Curran in Wagga Wagga.
The college has been proactive in addressing the issue of patients with mental heath challenges staying too long in emergency departments.
It has also actively sought to relieve the immense burden alcohol creates for all our emergency service people. The importance of lockout laws, opportunities for the regional training of emergency specialists, and climate change and health have also been issues of concern for the ACEM.
Congratulations to the college for taking a strong lead and improving the health of residents across the board.
