After three years in operation, theDVproject:2650, a partnership between the Wagga Women’s Health Centre and Wagga Wagga City Council, finished on 30 June.
I would like to say a big congratulations to the Wagga Wagga Women’s Health Centre and the Wagga Wagga City Council on this project.
We know domestic and family violence is a huge issue for our community, and this program has been successful in promoting gender equality while providing a strong foundation for more community action.
What has been great about this project is that instead of continuing to simply treat the victims, it has said “how do we stop this?”
The task now is for the government is to take this work and roll it out across the state.
Wagga Women’s Health Centre will progress some of the more targeted prevention activity recommendations during the next nine months, with funding made available through the Department of Communities and Justice.
