WAGGA WAGGA MAYOR GREG CONKEY TO RETIRE

Wagga Wagga mayor Greg Conkey has announced that he will not be seeking re-election in the September local government election.

He has served on Wagga Wagga City Council for nine years and as mayor for five.

Greg has been a passionate advocate for our community during his time on Wagga Wagga City Council.

He has always worked extremely hard to advance Wagga Wagga’s interests.

We have worked on a number of projects together and Greg’s dedication to the community has never wavered.

From the special activation precinct at Bomen to securing a water supply for Lake Albert, Greg has always had the interests of Wagga Wagga at the heart of everything he does. He also led the charity and business roundtables during the pandemic.

I am sure the Wagga City Rugby Male Choir will appreciate having him spend more time back in the baritones.

I also would like to pay tribute to his wife Jenny and thank her for her work in the role of lady mayoress.
