LAUNCH OF THE WAGGA WAGGA TRANSPORT PLAN

Wagga Wagga is now leading the way for regional NSW, being the first regional city to have a transport plan.

This morning the Wagga Wagga Transport Plan was officially launched; a 20-year plan to build a more efficient and accessible transport network that will improve daily life for families in Wagga Wagga.

Wagga Wagga is a booming place. Our region is a place of growth, but as I have always said, that growth has support the people who live here.

We want Wagga Wagga to be a great place to live and work and an important part of that is transport.

The community provided a lot of feedback on the draft plan and it is great to see much of that has been considered in the final plan.

I am encouraged by the initiatives around safe transport, cycling and family-friendly transport, as well as also initiatives to try to reduce congestion and improve access and transport for freight, a very important part of our growth into the future. It is also great to see support of the special activation precinct.

I am pleased that the southern bypass and Gobbagombalin Bridge duplication are now on the agenda, with work to start between council and transport to look at these options in the long term.

There is a lot in this plan that will help to improve the lives of people in Wagga Wagga.
