It was great to welcome the authentic and passionate voice of Minister Ben Franklin to our electorate yesterday, for the announcement of the $30 million Community and Place Grants Program.

I strongly support the Community and Place Grants Program because it will give local communities the opportunity to decide what they believe they need to genuinely close the gap.

For once, it’s not the government making decisions, it will be local communities.

As part of the Closing the Gap Implementation Plan, grants of up to $250,000 will be available to fund one-off projects including programs, equipment, vehicles and infrastructure to support Aboriginal Organisations and Groups to deliver immediate outcomes under Closing the Gap.
