CYCLING WITHOUT AGE LAUNCH

I was very pleased to attend the Wagga Wagga launch of Cycling Without Age at The Forrest Centre Mary Potter Nursing Home.

Cycling Without Age is represented in over 52 countries and gives the elderly and mobility impaired the freedom to travel around their community in electric trishaws cycled by volunteers.

I was joined by Mayor of Wagga Wagga, Cr Dallas Tout, and the wonderful sponsors: the Rotary Club of Wollundry, Elders Insurance, Riverina Cardiology, Zachariah Naumann Optometry, Officeworks and Independent Commodities Service. I congratulate them all for their sponsorship of this compassionate and community focused initiative.

I especially thank former Ladysmith Public School Principal Helen Sturman for spearheading this initiative for Wagga Wagga and for The Forrest Centre’s Executive Assistant Helen Supple for organising.

I was privileged enough to ride the trishaw today with Cr Tout with our ‘pilot’ Bec and I can see why this program has become so popular. We have over 56 kilometres of cycleways in Wagga Wagga and Cycling Without Age is a great addition to Wagga Wagga’s Active Transport Space.

Would you please consider becoming a volunteer pilot in Wagga Wagga? Please contact Helen Sturman via email on CWAwagga@gmail.com
