I was very pleased to catch up with Sheridan Evans in Wagga Wagga today as Cancer Council NSW (CCNSW) launched its Election Platform 2023.
Cancer touches the lives of so many in our community. It is heartening that so much has improved in cancer treatment and support.
And CCNSW have been a big part of those improvements.
As a medical professional I have seen the impacts of cancer at all stages. The important thing to know is that many cancers are preventable and treatable.
That is why it is so important that you get your check-up with your local GP. And do simple screening like the bowel cancer screening test sent out by the federal government. I did mine recently!
Over the next 25 years 1.52 million people in New South Wales will be diagnosed with cancer and almost 1 in 3 people diagnosed will die of cancer unless change is made.
We need more investment in cancer prevention, need to improve early detection and diagnoses of bowel cancer, we need the highest standards of care for everyone with cancer and we need to support patients to live well during and after cancer treatment.
