I had the privilege of being at the Victory Memorial Gardens on Saturday for the unveiling of the memorial statue to the Australian Light Horse.

Congratulations to the South West Slopes Light Horse Memorial Committee, and in particular Patrick Leary, John Ploenges and Maria Flinn.

It was a tremendous occasion with a large turnout, which showed how warmly this initiative has been received by the community.

The statue itself was admired by everyone in the crowd, and it was a magical occasion to see it unveiled with the Light Horse behind the statue.

Well done to Michael McCormack MP, Member for Riverina, on his efforts with this, and well done to the Wagga Wagga City Council.
