I was proud to support Wagga Wagga City Council at parliament this week to launch the Entry Point Housing proposal – an imaginative and innovative idea that could offer a real solution to the housing crisis in regional NSW.
The proposal aims to help people enter the housing market by building cost-efficient homes that can be developed for about $400,000 through savings in shared facilities, cost-saving design and streamlined regulatory processes.
It’s an exciting idea that could make the dream of home ownership come true for people trying to get a start on the housing ladder and I’m now working with the state government to get its support for this great proposal.
If it gets the go-ahead, Wagga will lead a pilot program for the private sector to build homes for owner-occupiers with the scheme to roll out across the regions if it proves successful.
Congratulations to council GM Peter Thompson, his team and industry partners for developing this promising proposal.
