I welcomed the chance to speak at a protest rally in Sydney this morning when a passionate crowd gathered outside Parliament to demand the demerger of amalgamated councils across NSW.

It was a great opportunity to again make it very clear that the government must provide a clear pathway to demerging and provide local councils with the operational and financial help they need to make it a reality.

The mergers were a mess created by the state. Now it’s time for the state to clean it up.
