Earlier in the week I met with Sam Mulkurti, from Relationships Australia, and Jane Gerhard from the Murrumbidgee Primary Health Network, to find out more about the local responses to elder abuse in the lead up to World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, which is today, June 15.
As stated by WEAAD, elder abuse comes in many forms, including financial, emotional, psychological, physical, sexual, or social, and can occur once, or many times and can vary in severity.
I am pleased to see local services and advisory groups working together to raise awareness and provide local advocacy and support around this issue.
