It was an honour to join the Kerelite community of Wagga Wagga to celebrate Onam!
Onam is a state festival that is celebrated by all sections of the Kerala community, bringing together all faiths and beliefs.
Originally a Hindu festival in Spring, it recalls the yearly return of King Mahabali to the land. Some of these pictures have me with King Mahabali, and I was lucky enough to be greeted by him when I arrived.
It is a time of remembrance for the good things of the past, to build memories for the future. A time of games, music, dance, flowers and amazing food!
We have many members of our community from Kerala and they are especially important to our health system. Thank you for what you do for our community.
It was a spectacular celebration!
