2025 Wagga Wagga Local Woman of the Year Award

Congratulations to Vickie Burkinshaw – Wagga Wagga Electorate’s Local Woman of the Year 2025!

I’m was thrilled to name and congratulate Vickie Burkinshaw yesterday on being named the 2025 Local Woman of the Year for the Wagga Wagga Electorate – a well-deserved recognition of her dedication, leadership, and impact across the arts and broader community.

As the owner of The Curious Rabbit, Vickie has created more than just a gallery, café, and bookshop – she has built a welcoming, inclusive space that fosters creativity, connection, and diversity. Her support for emerging artists and her commitment to amplifying new voices have made a lasting impact on the region’s arts scene.

Beyond the arts, Vickie’s leadership is felt through her work as President of both the Friends of the Wagga Wagga Art Gallery and the Wagga Wagga Women’s Health Centre. Her advocacy for women’s health, support for those experiencing domestic violence, and tireless efforts to strengthen vital community services are truly inspiring.

Congratulations, Vickie, and thank you for your incredible contributions to Wagga Wagga and beyond.

Happy International Women’s Day!
