WAGGA WAGGA HEALTH SERVICE – TEMPORARY PARKING CHANGES
The car park at the main entry to the Wagga Wagga Base Hospital will be temporarily closed early September as part of the final stage of works on the $431 million Wagga Wagga Health Service (WWHS) Redevelopment project.
The car park, located on the eastern side of campus with entry from Lewis Drive off Edward Street, will be unavailable from Monday 7 September 2020 as the Stage 3 construction zone is expanded to undertake carparking, footpath, paving and landscaping works.
Remaining car parking areas across the campus will be open and interim parking and pedestrian measures will be put in place including:
Drop-off zones in front of the Emergency Department
Additional public car parking spaces made available in the northern car park off Edward Street
Additional accessible car parking made available in front of the Mental Health Unit
An evening shuttle bus service to take staff on the afternoon shift to their vehicles in streets surrounding the campus
Pedestrian access to the Hospital’s temporary main entry will be relocated to the footpath on Lewis Drive.
Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) Chief Executive Jill Ludford said, “The work on the health campus is being undertaken in a staged process to minimise disruptions to staff, visitors and patients.
“We thank you for your understanding and apologise for any inconvenience during this important project for local communities in the District.”
Motorists are reminded of the 10-kilometre an hour speed limit on the health campus and pedestrians are urged to take care in the area.
Construction of the new Stage 3 building is due for completion and operational commissioning in early 2021..
