'Investing in Women' funding for Wagga Wagga Women's Health Centre

Wagga Wagga Women’s Health Centre is one of 18 organisations from across the state to receive funding as part of the NSW Government’s $1 million Investing in Women Fund.

Member for Wagga Wagga, Dr Joe McGirr, said organisations like Wagga Wagga Women’s Health Centre played a crucial role in our community, providing local women with the support they need.

The centre will receive $27,793 for a dietitian program, which aims to provide a dedicated specialist clinic for service users who, due to trauma, financial insecurity, physical or mental health issues, or lack of knowledge around nutrition, are experiencing eating disorders or disordered eating and associated health issues.

“I am a strong supporter of the Wagga Wagga Women’s Health Centre and I am aware of the good work that is being done there to build on the services and supports available to women in the community,” Dr McGirr said.

“The Investing in Women Fund is about ensuring women across the state have the support, skills and opportunities they need no matter what path they are on or challenges they are facing.”

Minister for Women Bronnie Taylor said organisations like Wagga Wagga Women’s Health Centre are already doing an incredible job across NSW and this funding will ensure we can support even more women.

“The Investing in Women Fund is helping deliver a range of other initiatives including financial literacy for young women, trades mentoring in Western Sydney, one-on-one tax and business advice for financially vulnerable Aboriginal women and free haircuts for domestic-family violence victim-survivors,” Mrs Taylor said.

Since 2013, the Investing in Women Funding Program has provided more than $3.3 million to projects that support women and girls in NSW.
