EAT MORE SEAFOOD: INLAND SEAFOOD RECOGNISED

I am really pleased to see that inland seafood is being recognised and given access to the same opportunities as the coastal seafood industry is provided.

Locally sourced trout from Tumut and surrounds is some of the best fish in our state and is available right here for local and tourists alike to enjoy.

The new round of grants is part of the ‘Eat More NSW Seafood Program 2023’ is designed at sponsoring local seafood operators that do one or more of the below:

  • promote the sustainability and quality of NSW seafood

  • promote the health benefits of seafood consumption

  • increase consumer purchasing options across a broader variety of seafood products

  • educate consumers and the general community about the importance of sustainable fishing and aquaculture, and how they can help to achieve this through their seafood purchasing choices

  • increase the awareness of the economic and social contributions by NSW seafood production to local and regional communities

  • build community support for NSW commercial fishing and aquaculture.

The grants for local seafood operations provide:

  • Up to $10 000 in grants for small scale operations

  • Up to $100 000 in grants for larger scale operations

To all locals and tourists alike, please support local business and go buy, eat and promote local seafood, it not only tastes great but is healthy too, there is nothing better!
