I was delighted to witness Cecil ‘Bob’ Scott unveil a plaque emblazoned with his name on Wagga’s main street this morning.
Bob officially joined the Baylis Street ‘Walk of Honour’, after he received the relative Wagga Wagga City Council Australia Day Award this year.
The award is presented to a local legend, who has made a great contribution to the local government area.
The next to join a prestigious list of outstanding Wagga City residents, Bob said he had no idea when he woke up that he would be the centre of a special ceremony.
Bob was originally nominated for his instrumental involvement in the Wagga Wagga District Highland Pipe Band. Having played a part in its inception, Bob has been the band’s “heart and soul" for 60 years”, bringing music, education and ceremony and tradition to the city and its surrounds.
