Celebrating a top volunteer during National Volunteer Week

Since taking on the role of Wagga Wagga MP, it has blown me away to witness first hand, just how much volunteers contribute to communities across our electorate.

In my travels across the country, state and overseas, I can honestly say that no one does volunteering as well as Australia and in particular, our region.

Today, during National Volunteer Week, I would like to thank each and every one of you for the time, effort and passion you share with organisations and individuals across our electorate.

In particular I would like to congratulate Russell Ubrihien, who was recognised with a NSW Riding For the Disabled Volunteer Encouragement Award today.

Like most quiet-achieving volunteers, Mr Ubrihien said he did not expect to be rewarded for his service.

“When you leave at the end of the day, you feel like you’ve achieved something,” Mr Ubrihien said.

“That’s the reward.”

Having worked with the RDA horses clients for close to eight years, he could not speak highly enough of the organisation, teaching children and adults alike how to ride and care for the animals.

Keep up the amazing work!
