This morning I attended the inaugural meeting of the Parliamentary Friends of the Country Women's Association (CWA) of NSW, in the lead up to the organisation celebrating its centenary next month.
I spoke with Danica Leys, the chief executive officer of the Country Women’s Association of NSW, about the goals of the new parliamentary friends group.
The aim is to strengthen the ties between the CWA of NSW and NSW Parliamentarians, and to continue to recognise the CWA's genuine advocacy and assistance provided to citizens across NSW in times of crisis.
The CWA do tremendous work supporting rural, regional and remote communities on issues including health, education, prevention of domestic and family violence and child protection, road and transport issues, and drought, flood, fire recovery.
Happy (almost) 100th birthday to the CWA!
