I was able to visit Turvey Park Public School yesterday, and was taken on a tour by relieving Principal, Kirrilee Post, and Director Educational Leadership, Jenene McGrath.

Clearly the fire and smoke damage has affected a significant number of classrooms.

However, the staff have responded in a fantastic way to adapt to the situation. I want to thank Kirrilee and her staff, and Jenene McGrath and her staff, and also acknowledge the work of school’s infrastructure in supporting the school.

Yesterday the hall was returned to the school for use, and work is continuing on cleaning the remaining affected classrooms.

I hope that stage three students will be able to return to the site in the next few weeks, depending on how the cleaning and restoration work goes.

Certainly the students that I met yesterday appeared to be coping really well with the change in situation.X
