It was wonderful to attend an event at Parliament last night, commemorating a century since the Lausanne Treaty.
This anniversary marks the signing of a Treaty which has denied self-determination and excluded Kurdish people from political life. It is now the longest lasting of the post-First World War settlements.
Speakers included academic Dr Vicki Sentas UNSW, Rojava Solidarity Sydney, the Sydney Kurdish Youth Association, and wonderful live Kurdish music.
A special thanks to Ismet Tastan, a special friend to Wagga, and Abigail Boyd MLC, for hosting the event.
