I had the pleasure of attending the 2024 combined Rotary Clubs of Wagga Wagga Peace Day Ceremony yesterday, and presenting the School Community Service Awards.

I'd like to congratulate Damien Nye, who was awarded the Wagga Wagga City Council Peace Award, who has an incredible story of raising money for many local charities. In particular, Damien has worked tirelessly to raise funds for the Ukraine, and has himself gone to the Ukraine to take humanitarian aid to remote villages. A monumental achievement.

Congratulations also to Elizabeth Parsons, Hewitt Whyman, Judy Heard, Patricia Walmsley, Ali Tanner, John Evans and Rev. Karen Kime who received Community Service Awards from the local Rotary clubs, and the Wagga Wagga Base Hospital Auxiliary Op Shop, who received the Helen & Peter Walsh Memorial Peace Award.
