What a great privilege it was to host dozens of dedicated volunteers in parliament this week to celebrate Can Assist’s 70th anniversary of helping country people in their fight with cancer.
Can Assist has helped countless people, easing the financial, emotional and logistical burden for patients and their loved-ones and helped to ensure that all country residents get the care they need regardless of where they live in NSW. They are a local helping hand, from the community for the community.
And they have been tremendously effective advocates of policy change to improve the lives of cancer patients and their families.
It was great to join some of the organisation’s 3000 volunteers at the anniversary celebration, including Deborah Robinson, Margaret Dalmau, David Graham and Frank Murtagh.
Here’s to another 70 years of making a difference. If you’d like to learn more about Can Assist or support the cause, visit https://canassist.org.au/
