Thank you to the team at Wagga Wagga Police Station who organised a brilliant presentation on the SLAYS initiative when Police Minister Yasmin Catley visited Wagga this week.
SLAYS stands for Showcasing, Learning about Youth Supports and has helped our police and other service providers identify service provision in our local area to get young people and their families the help they need, whether it’s healthcare, from their school, or a local community service provider.
It was also fantastic to join Minister Catley at the regional roadshow of the You Should Be a Cop in Your Home Town program for high school kids.
The program is making it easier for anyone from regional communities to join the police and return to their home town to serve the community.
More than 50 young people from across the region joined the police to hear about what it takes to be a cop and why policing is a great career – congratulations to all involved.
