NEW STATION FOR TALBINGO RFS

Talbingo's volunteer firefighters have a new home and a brand new Category 1 firefighting vehicle.

It was a pleasure to join members of the Talbingo Rural Fire Brigade, Acting Deputy Commissioner Viki Campbell and Superintendent Jon Gregory for the official opening of their new station.

The old station served the brigade for more than 60 years and was originally built for the Snowy Hydro community, so there's plenty of history in it. The new purpose-built station gives today's volunteers three appliance bays, training facilities and modern amenities.

The brigade also welcomed a brand new, state-of-the-art Category 1 firefighting vehicle, a great addition for the brigade and the community it serves.

The day was also a chance to recognise medal recipients. Congratulations to Tony Day, Scott Southwell, Steven Jory and Fred Weule, who were honoured for their service.

It was also good to have RFSA representative Michael Neyland and Talbingo RFS President Frank McCorry there to mark the occasion.

Whether it's a bushfire, a road accident or a house fire, these volunteers turn out for Talbingo and the wider Snowy Valleys.

Thank you to Captain John Scott and every member of the brigade, past and present, for all you do.
