It was a pleasure to attend the Wagga Rail Heritage Association’s open day and launch their oral history video about changes in local rail operations over the last 50 years.
Fifty years doesn’t seem like too long a time, but the changes that have taken place to local rail in this time have been profound. It was excellent to hear the stories of the people who have contributed to the Wagga Wagga and Riverina Rail History.
We are lucky to have the Wagga Rail Heritage Station Museum, which houses a trove of material on the Great Southern Railway, and I’d like to thank all the volunteers who dedicate their time to the museum, including Rob Gannon, Phil Horwell, and Rob Maher among many others.
