Mr John Neyland receives NSW Community Service Award
Adelong’s John Neyland has been recognised for his many years of dedication to his community.
Mr Neyland’s efforts have been acknowledged with a NSW Community Service Award, presented to him by Independent Member for Wagga Wagga, Dr Joe McGirr.
In the past, Mr Neyland has been president of various community groups, including Apex, Adelong Batlow Bears RLFC, Adelong Showground Trust, Adelong Pastoral and Agricultural Society, Adelong S and C Club and Adelong RFS.
Most recently, after an accident led to him giving up work, Mr Neyland has volunteered at Snowy Valleys Council when he can, undertaking general garden maintenance within the Adelong cemetery and the surrounding community.
Dr McGirr has praised Mr Neyland for his dedication to his community.
“John has a proud history of community service. His efforts over many years have made a real difference to Adelong,” he said.
Mr Neyland said he was surprised and humbled by the award.
“I have always enjoyed giving a bit back to the community when I can,” he said.
