Tumut Hospital access changes from November 2021

Temporary changes to the way people access the new $50 million Tumut Hospital are expected to be in place from November 2021.

MLHD Chief Executive Jill Ludford said the access changes will be in place for all users until mid-2022 when final works for the redevelopment are expected to be complete.

“From November, access to the Tumut Hospital will be via Lambie Street for patients, visitors, staff, ambulance and other emergency vehicles as well as service vehicles.”

The temporary access is required until the old hospital buildings are demolished and the new hospital’s permanent main entry from Simpson Street as well as parking, landscaping and a new helipad are complete.

During the temporary main access arrangement, onsite parking will be available for patients, visitors and staff, and motorists are reminded of the 10km/h speed limit.

All motorists using the temporary hospital access via Lambie Street must give way to emergency and non-clinical service vehicles.

Dedicated pedestrian access to the temporary main entry via Lambie Street will also be in in place.

The community is thanked for their patience while this essential work is carried out.

The new Tumut Hospital is expected to open to patients and visitors, late 2021, with final works to be completed mid-2022.

The new Tumut Hospital will deliver services under the one roof to allow for the modern delivery of health care for the local community.
