2023 WAGGA WAGGA AUSTRALIA DAY AWARD NOMINEES ANNOUNCED

I would like to extend my most sincere congratulations to the 26 individuals who have been nominated for a 2023 Wagga Wagga Australia Day award.

The official Wagga Wagga Australia Day awards ceremony will be held at the Civic Theatre on Wednesday 25 January from 7pm.

Nominees in the five categories are:

  • CITIZEN OF THE YEAR AWARD:

David Bardos, Katelyn Davis, Leanne Hesketh, Aaron McDonnell, Ken May, John Nixon, Aunty Cheryl Penrith, Alan Pottie and Ali Tanner.

  • YOUNG CITIZEN OF THE YEAR AWARD:

Chelsea Burgess Hannon, Bianca Lubke, Emily McMahon, Shanae Pope, Maimuna Zaman and Joshua Schaeffer.

  • WALK OF HONOUR:

Wenceslaus DeJong, Aunty Isabel Reid and Aunty Kath Withers.

  • TED RYDER SPORTS MEMORIAL AWARD:

Robyn Harrington, Craig Hesketh, Amanda McLachlan, Henri Felix Moreels, Donna O’Grady and Marcus Webster.

  • ENVIRONMENTAL CITIZEN OF THE YEAR AWARD:

ErinEarth and Carmel Wallis.


It is wonderful that we will also be welcoming 80 new Australian citizens as part of the Australia Day proceedings on January 26.
