MINISTER WASHINGTON VISIT TO WAGGA

This week I welcomed Minister for Families, Communities and Disability Services, Kate Washington, to Wagga Wagga, as she announced grants funding to support local service providers that helped the community during last year’s floods.

Among the groups meeting the minister were the Riverina Medical and Dental Aboriginal Corporation (RIVMED), the Wagga Women’s Health Centre and Boys to the Bush. It was also great to see funding support for other fantastic local organisations, including the Tumut and District Neighbourhood Centre, Anglicare, Mission Australia, Sisters Housing and more.

The local recipients will use the support to deliver services ranging from food support, health care, counselling and more.

These groups are the backbone of the community in times of crisis and it’s great to see them share in a grants pool of more than nine million dollars, with the vulnerable in our community to get much-needed help going forward.
