It was exciting to join Tony Calabro and the team from Busabout to announce today that Wagga will lead the way in a new system of ‘tap and go’ fare payments on the city’s commuter buses.
While passengers can continue to pay cash if they prefer, the new contactless system will mean travellers will enjoy smoother, more streamlined fare payments, simply tapping on with their phones or cards.
As the city grows, the new system will help to get more people on to public transport, helping to ease pressures on congestion, parking and emissions.
I’ve been pushing to bring this technology to Wagga and am grateful to Transport Minister Jenny Aitchison for responding to my advocacy. The system is set to begin in the coming weeks.
Happy travels!
