It was my great privilege this week to present the NSW Seniors Festival 2026 Local Senior of the Year Awards to three truly remarkable people in our community.

Lynette Hamson — For her dedicated service through the Lockhart Lions Club, Woodhaven, Red Cross, and the Greens Gunyah Museum.

Eilagh Rurenga — For her wonderful work with Rotary, Wagga Carevan, Wagga VIEW Club, and the Ronald McDonald Family Room at Base Hospital.

Aunty Donna Kirby — For her deep commitment to cultural connection through local schools, One Mob Connection, and ongoing service to our community.

These are the people who show up, quietly and consistently, making Wagga Wagga a better place every single day. I am sincerely grateful for everything they do.
