Today was a great day for women’s sport in Wagga and surrounds, with the official opening of new and upgraded female-friendly amenities at Gissing Oval.

I was proud to attend the opening on behalf of Sports Minister Steve Kamper with Wagga Wagga City Council and local sporting groups to welcome the addition of new changerooms, showers, a referees’ room, and a conference room with kitchenette.

Making it an even more special day, some of our female stars of the future were there to join the celebrations.

Providing facilities welcoming to women and girls is crucial to encourage more women into sport and with Wagga’s proud history of producing star athletes, it’s great to know that new generations are getting the support they need to be their best.
