I was proud to join early childhood educators from Kapooka and dozens of others from across the state at a rally in Sydney today, calling for fair pay for community preschool educators.

As I have said in parliament and elsewhere, it is totally unfair that community preschool staff are paid much less than their counterparts in the school system, despite doing the same vital work and requiring the same qualifications.

Our future lies in the education of our children and community preschools are essential to getting kids off to the best educational start possible.

The government must step up and deliver pay equity to these talented and dedicated educators as directed by the Fair Work Commission. I will continue to support them until real progress is made.
