Celebrating 'something magical' about horses with RDA

Heather baker has been a Riding for the Disabled volunteer for more than 40 years.

Ms Baker, alongside fellow volunteers, coaches and members, this year helped to support about 130 children and adults through the unique benefits of working with horses.

Entirely community funded, I was surprised to learn the volunteer-run initiative has been adopting the natural therapy of horses in Wagga since 1973.

There’s something magical about it all.

I had the pleasure of meeting the current president Ms Baker at the organisation’s Christmas party on Saturday evening.

I have to say I was blown away by the dedication, commitment and compassion of these wonderful men and women.

Not only that, it is incredible how horses work to assist those living with disabilities or special needs.
